48-lb Trevali is toast of 2012 Tinian Cliff Fishing Derby

Fabi Muna and Norbert Pangelinan’s 48-lb Trevali took home the $300 grand prize in Tinian’s 13th Cliff Fishing Derby held from April 27 to April 29 from designated sections of Fleming Point I, II, and III to South Dump Coke on Tinian.
The duo also finished second place in the total weight category without their big whopper being included in the bundle.
They also won third place in the most variety behind runners-up Ton Aquiningoc and Eddie Quichocho Lizama and Most Variety winners Lawrence Duponcheel.
Aquiningoc and Quichocho claimed first place in the Most Weight in front of the grand prize couple, while Lizama and Duponcheel rounded out the third spot.
All first place winners received $300 cash prizes, $200 went to the runners-up of each category, and $100 was awarded to the third place finisher.
All place finishers also received a free T-shirt and an island-style complimentary dinner. Various other prizes were passed out in a raffle drawing held during the awards banquet.
A total of 14 Tinian residents and five tourists turned out for the competition.
The event was sponsored by the Tinian Municipal Council and the Tinian Mayor’s Office.
