Utopia Bar’s Docomo Hustlers and Wild Bill’s Bar & Grill’s Shark Attack are the current frontrunners of their respective divisions after Tuesday’s matches in the Saipan Billiards Association’s 2011 Budweiser Summer/Fall 8-Ball League.
Hustlers defeated Joe’s Bar’s Fotten Palau (3-11), 6-1, at home to improve their win-loss record to 12-2. They now hold a three-game lead over Jonny’s IT&E Voyagers in the Agingan Division.
IT&E Voyagers (9-5), meanwhile tried to keep pace with a 6-1 victory over sister-team Home Boyz Five (6-8) at home.
Meanwhile, third-ranked IT&E Incredibles (8-6) snuck past VFW Post 3457’s X-Tream (4-10), 4-3, at home in Sand’s Bar’s and improved its slate to 8-6.
After winning the first two singles games, IT&E Incredibles dropped three in a row before sweeping both double matches to steal the win. Notably, IT&E Voyagers’ Rolly Villanueva ran the rack twice.
Shark Attack, meanwhile, routed 19th Hole Bar’s Poksu (6-8), 6-1, on the road, and improved its card to 11-3 for a two-game lead in the Obyan Division.
D’Pirates Bar & Grill’s Pirata (9-5), for its part, jumped all the way to second place after dominating 19th Hole’s Titans (3-11), 6-1, at home.
Jonny’s Team SCS (8-6) then edged sister-team Crazy 8 (5-9), 4-3, at home. SCS won three of the five singles games and swept the final doubles match to secure the victory.
Shark Attack’s Patrick Taitano ran the rack and Pirata’s Dave Maratita sank the 8-ball off the break in their respective matchups.
