GUAM—The U.S. Coast Guard received notification from Tristar Terminals that a cargo hose ruptured while transferring liquefied petroleum gas from the Gas Shuriken about 11:20 yesterday morning.

Coast Guard responders assessed the release along with the Guam Fire Department and the Port Authority of Guam. A safety zone was established, extending 800 meters on the waterside from Pier F1, and 300 meters on the shore side. The entrance to Cabras Island Channel was temporarily closed at Southwest Point.

At this time, the safety zone has been cancelled and vessel traffic can resume operating in the channel.

Mariners are reminded to always monitor VHF Channel 16 for safety broadcasts and port information while underway. (USCG)
