Shirley’s A widens lead in women’s league
Shirley’s A stretched its lead to two in the women’ s division of the 2011 Saipan Soccer School Futsal League after shutting out Thai Team on Wednesday night at the TSL Sports Complex.
Shirley’s A now has a 9-1-0 win-loss-record, keeping its distance against sister team and second running Shirley’s B.
Jeraldine Castillo and Irish Pagarao canned two goals each for Shirley’s A’s lopsided victory over Thai Team, which dropped to a 3-4-2 card for fifth place in the eight-team field.

Red Team 5, Shirley’s A 4[/B]
In the other women’s game, Red Team notched back-to-back wins after pulling off a close 5-4 triumph over Shirley’s A.
Red Team, which downed Kulet’s Team last Tuesday, 5-1, improved to a 6-5-0 mark for fourth place in the team standings. Shirley’s A dropped to a 7-3-0 card, losing the match despite leading in the first half.
Mikky Vargas, Alexa Vergara, and Marriele Gariguez logged one goal each for Shirley’s A, lifting their team to a 3-1 lead at the break. Amber Roberts scored Red Team’s lone goal in the first half.
After a slow start, Red Team came out smoking in the second half, firing four goals to steal the win. Megan Herber anchored Red Team’s recovery, drilling two goals while Temary Gramlich and Zoe Jewell chipped in one apiece.
[B]MEN’SDocomo 11, Mellow Yellow 3[/B]
In the first men’s match, Docomo routed Mellow Yellow, 11-3.
The win was sixth in 10 games for Docomo, putting the team in a tie for second place with Korean Futsal Team.
Dan Westphal did most of the damage for Docomo, scoring five goals, while Ropati Tonuu logged three. Isra Harahap, Peter Loken, and Tom Linden contributed one each.
Young Sin Lim scored twin goals for Mellow Yellow, while Dhiras Chetry had one.

IT&E Men 4, Go Green 3[/B]
In the other men’s game, IT&E Men edged Go Green 4-3.
IT&E Men secured its fourth win in 12 games. Kirk Schuler logged two goals for IT&E, making both of them in the second half. Byong Ha Kim and Jin Han Yoon recorded one each.
Kim scored his lone goal in the first half to force a deadlock at halftime, 1-all. Kris put Go Green in the scoreboard in the opening frame. Then in the second frame, Ruselle Zapanta hit two goals, but Schuler answered with his own twin goals, while Yoon also found the back of the net once for the win.
