More artists needed for Pacifica exhibit that opens on Labor Day
Some 20 local artists have already signed up for the Cultural Heritage & Arts Pacifica Exhibit but Arts Council executive director Angel S. Hocog said they are still accepting artists who want to take part in the annual event.
“We are hoping to have more artists join the…exhibit. We’re still calling on all our artists to register and we’re getting a good response from them,” Hocog told Saipan Tribune.
The Cultural Heritage and Arts Pacifica Exhibit, which is free to the public, will open on Sept. 1 at the lobby function room (former RNC Tour office) of the Hyatt Regency Saipan. It will run for the entire month from 9am to 7pm. However, it will be closed on Sundays and during holidays.
The exhibit is one of the three major exhibits organized each year by the Arts Council. The other two are the women’s exhibit in March and Christmas exhibit in December.
Hocog remains hopeful that the public will patronize the opening of the exhibit on Sept. 1, which is actually Labor Day. “We are optimistic that our community will support our talented artists who deserve to be recognized and appreciated,” he said.
The public will also have a chance to buy any of the artworks that are part of the exhibit.
Interested artists and art collectors can register for the exhibit at the Arts Council office in Capitol Hill from 8:30am to 4:30pm. For more information, call 322-9982 or 83.
