Hi-5 routs Kagman in Rotary caging
Hi-5 blew out Kagman, 73-35, and remains unbeaten in two games as the 20th Annual Saipan Rotary Club Youth Basketball League U19 season continued Wednesday at the TSL Sports Complex in Gualo Rai.
Kagman now holds an even win-loss record of 1-1.
Hi-5 sprung out to a healthy 18-4 lead in the opening eight minutes as front man Ariel Urbano caught fire out of the gate with 10 points.
Urbano took a seat in the second quarter, but teammates Frank Machahito and Don Hocket hooked up for 11 markers as Hi-5 amassed a 35-9 margin at the pause.
Kagman woke up after the break and managed some baskets, but Hi-5 obliged and stretched its lead to 55-23 heading into the final canto.
Hi-5 ran up the score in the end as Urbano finished with a game-high 23 points. Kagman’s Frank Mettao managed 18 in the onslaught.
Hi-5 took on the CK Blazers (0-2) in part one of yesterday’s doubleheader as Kagman closed the outing against the Sonics (1-1). Results of the games will be released Monday.
Also on Monday, Rollers Basketball Club’s Rollers 1 and 2 squads are scheduled to clash at 5pm in Gualo Rai.
In related news, the Rotary caging U15 season kicks off at Gualo Rai today with a tripleheader that takes place from 11am to 3:30pm
U15 girls national team drew the early tip and will be paired up against RBC’s Angels at 11am. Then at 12:30pm the Black Widows square off against RBC’s 670 Rollers, while RBC’s Micronesian Breakers take on Proa U15 at 2pm
Games will be played under eight-minute quarters with running time.
The game clock will stop only for official timeouts, personal fouls, and during the final two minutes of the fourth quarter.
