Rollers 2 held off the CK Blazers, 59-54, in Monday’s 20th Annual Saipan Rotary Club Youth Basketball League U19 matchup held at the TSL Sports Complex in Gualo Rai.

Rollers 2 evened it win-loss card to 1-1, while the Blazers are still winless in two tries.

Both teams’ offenses stalled in the opening eight minutes as neither band managed a basket in the first quarter.

Rollers 2’s Rodney Sacramento then took charge in the second period with 10 points as he led his squad to a 31-26 edge at halftime.

Blazers’ Brandon Aulerio managed nine points in the second quarter, but did not receive much support from his teammates.

The Blazers battled back in the third quarter and pulled within a possession, 40-43, heading into the final canto. Aulerio added six points in the period, while a handful of Rollers 2 players chipped in on the other end.

Blazers’ Patrick Torres showed up with 10 points in the clutch, but caught fire a little too late for his team to pull off the rally.

Sacramento turned in a team-high 14 points in the game, while Blazers’ Aulerio led all scorers with 19.

The U19 season holds games at the Gualo Rai venue every Monday and Wednesday from 5pm to 6pm and plays two games on Fridays from 5pm to 7pm.
