Teen Talk, a youth organization under the Public School System Youth Development Program, is teaming up with Hard Rock Café Saipan for exciting activities next month.

James Sison, Teen Talk member and Hard Rock staffer, said they plan to hold a “Rock the Junk Fashion Show” and “Photography Contest” on Sept. 23.

“We decided to do this event to promote an eco-friendly environment and teen awareness in the community,” he told Saipan Tribune.

Sison said the Rock the Junk Fashion Show competition will have two categories: runway for children 6 years old and below and the eco-friendly fashion show.

Parents who want their children to participate in the runway competition for kids must buy Hard Rock shirts at their merchandise shop between Aug. 16 to 28. These shirts, Sison said, can be designed or styled as long as the Hard Rock symbol is still visible.

The eco-friendly fashion show, meanwhile, is open to all fashion designers of any age. Participants must create clothing and outfit made of any recyclable materials. “We want to encourage designers to think outside the box and create their own look,” said Sison.

The photography contest is open to amateur and professional photographers who can take photos of any eco-friendly or community service events before Sept. 23. Participants must submit three photos that will be posted on Facebook, with the contest winner to be determined based on the number of “likes.”
