SANTA RITA, Guam—The U.S. Navy advises of changes to the traffic pattern on Marine Corps Drive in Piti beginning Monday, Aug. 22, when two south-bound lanes near the Sasa Valley Fuel Farm will be temporarily closed to through traffic.

Navy contractors will divert both south-bound traffic lanes to one north-bound lane, while the other north-bound lane will remain to accommodate north-bound traffic.

This temporary diversion is scheduled for 10 days while Navy contractors continue work on the Wastewater Collection System Upgrade construction project for Naval Base Guam (NBG).

“We appreciate the community’s patience,” said Cmdr. Mike Thornton, NBG public works officer. “Safety is of utmost importance. During construction work we ask motorists to plan on brief delays and obey all posted speed limit and traffic signs.”

The construction project to install new wastewater pipes began at the Polaris Point intersection earlier this year and is slated for completion in November 2011. (PR)
