Shirley’s B wins battle of sister teams

Shirley’s B showed no love lost to sister team Shirley’s A, as the former pulled off a 5-4 victory in their women’s division game in the 2011 Saipan Soccer School Futsal League on Tuesday night at the TSL Sports Complex.

Alexa Vergara and Marriele Gariguez scored two goals apiece for Shirley’s B, while Jeralyn Castillo added one to improve their team’s win-loss-draw record to 6-1-0. The victory also put Shirley’s B back into the lead in the eight-team field, sharing the top spot with Shirley’s A.

Shirley’s A absorbed its first loss in the double-round robin competition after falling short in the second half. It tallied only two goals, both came from Irish Pagarao, against Shirley’s B’s three. Pagarao tallied one more goal in the second, while Jeraldine Castillo also lit up the scoreboard for Shirley’s A in the final 25 minutes of play. Shirley’s B matched Shirley’s A’s output in the second half and kept the win when Vergara scored her second goal and Jeralyn Castillo also found the back of the net.

[B]IT&E Awesome 3, Red Team 2[/B]

In the other women’s game, IT&E Awesome edged Red Team, 3-2.

IT&E Awesome hit all its goals in the second half to bounce back from a 0-1 halftime deficit and steal the win.

Zoe Jewell gave Red Team the lead with her goal in the first half. In the second half, Michelle Masga and Fedora Camacho scored for IT&E to grab the lead, 2-1, and Connie Camacho added one more for the cushion, 3-1. Two minutes before the game concluded Jewell drilled her second goal.

IT&E Awesome now has a 5-2-0 slate for second place, two notches ahead of Red Team (3-4-0)
[B] MEN’S

Red Inter 6, IT&E 2[/B]

Red Inter won the first men’s match of the night, thumping IT&E, 6-2.

Dale Roberts and Arkie Reusora anchored Red Inter’s fourth win in seven games, logging two goals apiece. David Duenas and Matt Holley had one goal each for the winning team.

Jin Han Yoon and Kirk Schuler were the only two players who scored for IT&E, which absorbed its sixth loss in a row.
[B] Go Green 6, Mellow Yellow 2[/B]

Go Green closed out its first-round campaign with a 6-3 triumph over Mellow Yellow.

Go Green improved to a 3-2-2 mark for a share of third place with Docomo, while Mellow Yellow remained at the bottom four of the eight-team field with its dismal 1-6-0 slate (seventh place).

Ruselle Zapanta had a hat-trick for Go Green, while Panapa Peteru, Semisi, and Jack Phan chipped in one goal each. Suriya Mongkhonat and Woo Ho Jin posted one apiece for Mellow Yellow.
