Dickinson sweeps electric classes in SRCR’s August race
Jude Dickinson dominated the Saipan Radio Control Racers Club short track in last Sunday’s August monthly race at the As Lito track, taking both the pole and the checkered flag in the 1/10 Electric Short Course Stock and Open classes.
Meanwhile, Rodney Catalla reigned supreme in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class, finishing as the top qualifier and overall winner.
Dickinson’s TraXXas Slash electric car took on all comers in both divisions, finishing head and shoulders over the competition.
Paul Salalila’s Kyosho SC-R Ultima settled for second place, ahead of third finisher Catalla (TraXXas Slash) in the Electric Stock class.
Later in the Electric Open division event, Leo Gatus crossed the line in second place as Catalla snuck into the third spot again for an impressive podium appearance in all three categories; both Gatus and Catalla also maneuvered TraXXas Slash cars.
In the Truggy group, Romel Isidro’s MB-X5T placed second, while Jojo Saracho’s MB-X6T came in third.
There are over 20 active SRCR members, and growing, who regularly take part in practices at the As-Lito Track every Saturday from 2pm to 6pm.
In addition, the SRCR tries to hold a daylong race, once a month, usually on Sundays from 9am to 5pm in their three racing classes. The novice class was added as a result of the recent additional turnout. The public is welcome to check out the track to learn more about their sport/hobby.
