Ol’Aces rally over Fielders 1
The Ol’Aces spoiled the Fielders 1’s bid for a sweep in the opening of the 2011 SMLBA-Youth Summer/Winter Baseball League after pulling off a 10-9 win in nine innings last Saturday at the Fracisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.
The Ol’Aces trailed, 6-9, after five frames, but mustered enough energy to sneak past the Fielders 1, who came of an 8-4 victory over Titanium in the curtain raiser. In the second game, Fielders 2 triumphed over the Kagman Lions, 11-8.
The Fielders 1 took a 4-2 lead in the first inning off three hits, two errors, and a walk. Clean up batter Carl Camacho whacked a two-RBI single, while Aces scored a pair off a double by Rocco Reyes and a Jacob Flores single.
The Ol’Aces then went ahead, 5-4, in the second inning off three hits and two errors. The Fielders 1 came back turned the table, 7-5, in the bottom half off just one hit, three errors, and a passed ball. Jack Villagomez bagged an RBI with his hit. The Fielders 1 added a run in the fourth off another base knock by Camacho and each team scored one run in the fifth inning.
The Ol’Aces loaded the bases right away to start the sixth and pulled within a run off a wild pitch, an error, and three consecutive walks. The Fielders 1 went 1-2-3 in the bottom and the Ol’Aces tied the game at the end of regulation when pinch runner Dave Hosono scored off a passed ball.
Boths quads came up empty in the eighth. Then the Ol’Aces’ Diego Camacho drove in Harry Nakamura with a base rip in the top of the ninth for the go-ahead run and they went on to nail the Fielders 1’s Patrick Tenorio out at home for the final out of the game.
Reyes batted 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs. Diego Camacho was also 3-for-4 with an RBI, two runs, and a stolen base, while Nakamura hit 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run and gave up two runs in four innings off three hits and had three strikeouts.

Fielders 1 8, Titanium 4[/B]
Both teams cracked the ice in the opening frame. Fielders 1 leadoff man Patrick Tenorio reached and scored soon after a couple stolen bases, while Titanium’s Brian Camacho hammered an RBI triple, bringing home Tony DL Guerrero.
The Fielders 1 jumped ahead, 5-1, in the second inning. Cody Kaipat led off with a hit and scored off an error. An error and a walk later, Tenorio belted a two-RBI smash and scored off another infield error. The Fielders 1 never looked back from thereon.
Winning pitcher Kaipat gave up three runs, two earned in four innings off a hit and four walks with a pick off to go with seven strikeouts. Tenorio bagged two RBIs, two runs, and stole three bases.

Fielders 2 11, Lions 8[/B]
The Fielders 2 took an early 3-0 lead in the second inning off four hits. Khobby Kaipat and Jerry Kintol notched RBI singles and Nate Guerrero drove in the third run off a double play ground ball.
Fielders then shot ahead, 9-0, two innings later. They scored four runs in the top of the third off an RBI single by Kaipat hit and another hit, two walks, a wild pitch, and two errors before adding two more in the fourth from a base rip by Poland Masaharu.
The count then shifted to 10-6, still in the Fielders 2’s favor in the fifth. Leonard Sablan bashed an RBI single in the top half, while the Lions managed six runs off five walks, two errors, and two-RBI singles by Russel Hocog and Brel Yobech in the bottom frame.
The Fielders 2 hung in there for the win.
Kaipat, Masaharu and Sablan each batted 3-for-4. Kaipat had two RBIs and two runs, Masaharu added an RBI and two runs, and Sablan chipped in one run.
The season continues this Saturday with the Ol’Aces challenging the Fielders 2 at 9am, and the Lions battling Titanium at 12noon. The Fielders 2 will have double duty this weekend, as they take on sister team Fielders 1 at 3pm.
