[B]Navy to conduct training on Warning Area-517[/B]

SANTA RITA, Guam—The U.S. Navy will conduct training at Warning Area 517 (W-517) on Aug. 10, from 8:30am to 4:30pm. The public especially fisherman, commercial pilots and marine tour operators are advised to stay clear from the area during the time and date indicated.

W-517 is an irregular shaped polygon comprising of 14,000 nautical square miles of airspace that begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. W-517 supports surface and aerial gunnery, missiles, and laser exercises. This will affect fishing in the vicinity of Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Bank. (USN)

[B]UOG fall 2011 registration[/B]

University of Guam new student orientation and registration will be held Aug. 9 – 12 by appointment. Late registration for all students will be held Aug. 12, 15 and 16. Add and drop will occur Aug. 17-23. Individuals over the age of 55 should contact the Records Office at 735-2210/11 on or before Aug. 12 to participate in the Senior Citizens Waiver Program. The payment deadline for fall 2011 is Aug. 25 at noon. Students must sign a Time Option Payment Plan or pay in full by this date. For more information contact 735-2202. (UOG)

[B]John Gonzales LIVE to feature ADAP interns[/B]

John Gonzales Live, which airs Wednesday and rebroadcasts on Sunday and Monday, all from 7pm to 8pm on KSPN Channel 2, will feature “Sustainability: NMC CREES ADAP interns share their summer internship experiences for the future” on Aug. 10 and rebroadcasts on Aug. 14 and 15, 2011. Guests are the 2011 ADAP student interns.

John Gonzales Live also rebroadcasts worldwide on the Web via Betelnut Radio (www.betelnutradio.com) on Aug. 10 at 6pm Pacific Standard Time and 9pm Eastern Standard Time (Thursday, Aug. 11, at 11am Chamorro Standard Time in the CNMI and Guam). [B]Tanapag school kindergarten registration[/B]

Tanapag Elementary School’s kindergarten registration for school year 2011-2012 in ongoing until Aug. 12 and Aug. 15-17, from 8:30amto 3:30pm at the main office. Kindergarten registration requirements: child must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31, 2011; copy of child’s birth certificate; school entrance health certificate; copy of health insurance or Medicaid; map of residence; copy of legal guardianship (if applicable). [B]Kagman High orientation schedule[/B]

Kagman High School will be holding an orientation for freshmen and sophomores on Aug. 25, 2011. The freshmen orientation will be from 9am to 10am, while the sophomore orientation will be from 10:30am to 11:30am.

The orientation for juniors and seniors will be on Aug. 26, 2011. Juniors will have their orientation from 9am to 10am, while seniors will have theirs from 10:30am to 11:30am.

[B]Registration info for Saipan Southern High[/B]

Saipan Southern High School students who have been evaluated from Junior High are not officially enrolled if your parents/ legal guardians did not submit a registration form. Pick up forms from the counseling office and submit ASAP for your child to be enrolled in SSHS. All returning students that attended SSHS last year must return all textbooks and settle all obligations with the school, before you can pick up your class schedule.

Schedules are to be picked up at the Counseling Office as follows:

* Seniors, 12th Grade, Aug. 22, Monday, 9am-4pm

* Juniors, 11th Grade, Aug. 23, Tuesday, 9am-4pm

* Sophomores, 10th Grade, Aug. 24, Wednesday, 9am-4pm

All transfer and new students enrolling at SSHS in grades 10, 11, and 12 are required to attend an orientation on Aug. 25, Thursday, 9am-11am, with their parents or legal guardians. No students will be allowed to attend the orientation without parents or legal guardians in attendance.

Freshman student orientation will be held in two different sessions to accommodate parents’/guardians’ work schedules. Please attend only one session on Aug. 26, 2011—from 9am to 11am OR from 1pm to 3pm—with their parents or legal guardians. Attend only one session with parents or legal guardians. No students will be allowed to attend the orientation without parents or legal guardians in attendance.
