PDM Promoters haul 700 lbs of trash

Despite the overcast skies, Paseo De Marianas Promoters, Inc. volunteers proceeded with their monthly cleanup in Garapan on Saturday.
“We still went ahead with our cleanup despite the gray skies. We were able to finish it before the rain started pouring,” Sonia Siwa of PDM Promoters told Saipan Tribune.
Siwa said the volunteers were composed of about 40 young members of the Saipan Awaodori team from Koblerville and Kinpachi Restaurant staff.
The group, which holds the monthly cleanup usually every first Saturday of the month, picked up trash along Coral Tree Avenue to the fire station then Beach Road straight up to ABC Store and the Star Sands Plaza area.
According to Siwa, they collected a total of 700 lbs of trash.
Siwa acknowledged the only Saipan Awaodori parent who joined Saturday’s cleanup, Inocencia They.
“Rain or shine, she’s always present during monthly cleanups. She’s really very consistent and we want to recognize her efforts,” added Siwa.
Siwa thanked the Division of Environmental Quality, which regularly provides them with supplies and refreshments for their monthly cleanups.
