Guam female fighter wants slot in ROP 11
Dededo Boxing Club’s Gianna “GiaBaby” Sarusal is interested in competing in Trench Tech Purebred Promotions’ Rites of Passage 11: Onra scheduled for Sept 9.
The Guam female fighter from Agana Heights is only 18 years old, stands at 5’6”, weighs 133lb, and trains at the Lights Out Gym. Sarusal holds a 1-1 record with her victory coming via knockout.
“We are still looking for an opponent for Gia. Any interested takers can contact me directly, message my Facebook page, or shoot me an email at the Trench Tech website,” Trench Tech president Cuki Alvarez said.
For Sarusal’s training team to accept the match, her opponent must be confirmed by Aug. 15 or three weeks before the event.
Alvarez added aspiring local male fighters from Tinian and Saipan are wanted to help Trench Tech form exciting matchups for a prolific list of Guam athletes coming for Onra.
Fifteen Guam MMA fighters from Team Guam Muay Thai K-1 and Team Counter Shot have expressed interest in making the trip over for Trench Tech’s fourth unarmed combat event of the year.
Muay Thai K-1 fighters include bantamweights Justin Dizon and Daniel Dee (both 130-140lbs), lightweights Jared Martin and Matt Arruejo (both 145-155lbs), welterweight Robin Young (155-165lbs), and middleweights Rom Garganera II (165-180lbs), Jesse Bunang (all 165-185lbs), Aaron Vegamora and Jason Toves (both 175-185lbs). All fighters are first-time amateur K-1 kick boxers.
Team Counter Shot’s fighters include K-1 flyweights John Garcia (125lb) and Jared Santos (120lb), K-1 featherweight Vaughn Laguana (145lb), lightweight boxer Brandon Payne (150lb), MMA bantamweight Kevin Miranda (135lb) and MMA light-heavyweight Mr. Matt (190lb).
Venue for ROP 11: Onra has yet to be decided.
