SANTA RITA, Guam—Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Marianas awarded P&S Construction Inc. a $9.5 million firm-fixed price task order July 28 (EST) to upgrade existing water, sanitary sewer and communications systems at South Ramp on Andersen Air Force Base (AAFB).

The contractor will install an elevated water tank, waterlines and a gravity sanitary sewer manhole. Work also includes upgrades to controls and electrical of two sanitary pump stations, supervisory control and data acquisition system on the new water tank, water booster pumps, sanitary pump stations, and a manhole duct system for communication lines.

The Maine-based small business was awarded the task order under a previously awarded small business multiple award construction contract (MACC).

“Small businesses have been successfully supporting the military’s mission for decades,” said Andy Wall, NAVFAC Marianas acquisition director. “This award not only demonstrates the effectiveness of the small business MACC as an acquisition tool, but the partnerships that we’ve developed over the years with small firms.”

Six proposals were received for this task order. Work is expected to be completed by February 2013.
