The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will hold its August general membership luncheon meeting this Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan.

SCC’s guest speaker will be newly installed Northern Marianas College president, Dr. Sharon Hart.

Hart’s presentation’s theme, “Northern Marianas College: an engine for economic growth in the Commonwealth, will speak to the college’s recognition that the Commonwealth’s economic vitality is closely linked to the college. As such it has a responsibility and a commitment to serving the needs of the local business community. The college will focus on partnering with business and the community to provide a well prepared labor force, employer group training and other mutually beneficial programs.

SCC has announcements regarding the current SCC prevailing wage survey project, and has requested a short presentation concerning the ongoing geothermal test drilling from the CNMI Energy Task Force.

The SCC luncheon will begin at 11:30am in the Fiesta Hibiscus Room, and the monthly meeting will begin at 12pm. Luncheon is $15 for SCC members and $20 for non-members and guests.

SSC, established in 1959 and incorporated in 1976, is a non-profit association of businesses and professional individuals working together to improve business opportunities and build a better economic and civic community on Saipan. The SSC, and its nearly 150 current members, prides itself on its main charge of being Saipan’s “Voice of Business.” (SSC)
