The July general membership meeting of the Society for Human Resource Management CNMI Chapter will be focusing on the topic of “Setting Up a Low Cost Retirement or College Savings Plan,” which will be presented by Donald Clark and Nathan Taimanglo of ASC Trust Company.

The morning meeting will be held at the Pacific Islands Club (Napu Room) on Thursday, July 28, 2011, from 9am to 12pm, and is open to the public.

As a good employer, you probably want to ensure that you and your employees can put away money for retirement. But if cash flow is tight and you are barely making ends meet, you may wonder how you can help yourself and your employees. This presentation will provide you the answer. You and your employees may also wonder how a college savings plan for the kids can be set up at a reasonable price. This meeting is open to the public and will be an invaluable opportunity for employers and employees to learn cost effective ways to start or modify a retirement plan or setup a college savings plan. Clark and Taimanglo will cover important topics such as:

* What is a 401K retirement plan;

* Cost an issue? How an employer can make a 401K plan work in an economic slowdown;

* Business is Good? How to shelter up to $49,000 in taxable income for yourself;

* Already have a 401K plan? How to check if its performing and make changes for better growth;

* Why a Roth 401K is the way to go in the CNMI;

* Individual IRA options if your employer doesn’t offer a retirement plan;

* Effective college savings plan options;

* Benefits of the 457 and new Roth 457 plans for CNMI government employees in the Defined Contribution plan.

The presentation includes morning refreshments and the cost is $20 for SHRM members and $30 for non-members. Seats are limited, so reserve your seat by contacting Polly DLG Masga 237-5122 or e-mail her at pollydlg@gmail.com. (SHRM)
