Korean Futsal Team takes early lead
Korean Futsal Team claimed the solo lead in the men’s division of the 2011 Saipan Soccer School Futsal League after demolishing Go Green, 10-1, Wednesday night at the TSL Sports Complex.
Two quick goals from Dae Min Jeon was all Korean Futsal Team needed to dictate the tempo of the game and pulled away with an easy win, the squad’s second in as many games. Go Green dropped to a 1-1-0 (win-loss-draw) card, failing to make a follow-up on its 7-0 debut win over the Thundercats last Tuesday.
After scoring two quick goals at the start of the 25-minute first half, Dae Min Jeon added two more to give Korean Futsal Team a 6-0 halftime lead. Jeong Jin Jeon nailed Korean Futsal Team’s two other goals in the opening frame.
In the second half, three other Korean Futsal Team players made it to the scoreboard, while Dae Min Jeon added one. Sang Ho Choi, Jin Wook Cho, and Dae Won Jeon tallied one goal each in the second half.
Go Green’s long goal in the game was courtesy of Jimmy Tang, who found the back of the net in the second half.
In the other men’s division game, Docomo and Red Inter engaged in a draw, 7-7-.
Arkie Reusora canned two goals for Red Inter in the first half, while Erwin Cruz and Dael Roberts had one each to lift the team to a 4-3 halftime lead. Trey Dunn, Ropati Tonuu, and David Loan scored one goal apiece for Docomo.
After a slow start, Ropati came out smoking for Docomo in the second half, as he drilled a hat-trick to force a draw. Docomo’s other goal in the second half was an own goal. Roberts and Reusora added one goal each for Red Inter in the second half, while David Duenas also made it to the scoreboard in that canto.
With the draw, Docomo and Red Inter shares identical 0-1-1 win-loss-draw marks.
IT&E Men (1-0), Wild Bill’s (1-0), and Mellow Yellow (0-1) complete the men’s field.
[B][U]WOMEN’S[/U][/B] [B]Shirley’s B 5, Kulet’s Team 3[/B]In the second women’s match, Shirley’s B edged Kulet’s Team, 5-3.
The victory was second in a row for Shirley’s B, giving the team the solo lead in the eight-squad field. Shirley’s B whipped IT&E Blossom in its debut match Tuesday night, 12-0.
Alexa Vergara and Ira Palero had two goals each, while Marielle Gariguez scored one. The trio found the back of the net in the first half for a 3-1 lead. Kulet Team’s lone goal in the first half came from Windy Orcine.
In the second half, Kulet’s Team recorded two goals, but Shirley’s B answered with two goals of its own to preserve the lead and the win. Goldie Aque and Ericka Dela Rosa nailed one goal each for Kulet’s Team, while Vergara and Palero lit up the scoreboard for Shirley’s B in the second half.
[B]IT&E Awesome 5, Thai Team[/B]In the first women’s match, IT&E Awesome broke into the win column after downing Thai Team, 5-2.
Nola Hix had a hat-trick for IT&E Awesome, which dropped its debut game against Mellow Yellow during the league’s opening last Monday. Natalie Hill gave IT&E Awesome its two other goals, posting both of them in the first half. Hix also had two goals in the first half that ended with IT&E Awesome on top, 4-1.
Pratoom Stoffer put Thai Team in the scoreboard in the first half and also made the squad’s goal in the second half.
Meanwhile, action in the double-round robin league will resume on Monday with organizers scheduling two games each in the men’s and women’s divisions.
