A man accused of punching his stepmother and beating up his two nieces and a nephew was sentenced Monday to 13 days in prison.

Superior Court presiding judge Robert C. Naraja sentenced William C. Teregeyo to a year in jail, all suspended except for 13 days, for one count of assault and battery.

The 22-year-old Teregeyo was given credit for the 13 days he had already served in jail. This means he will no longer serve further jail time.

Teregeyo will be placed on a year of probation and required to pay a $100 probation fee and $25 court fee. He was ordered to undergo counseling evaluation at the Community Guidance Center.

The Office of the Attorney General had charged Teregeyo with four counts of assault and battery and four counts of disturbing the peace.

Teregeyo pleaded guilty to a count of assault and battery as part of a plea deal. The remaining charges were dismissed.

Detective Catherine B. Pangelinan stated in her report that a police officer had responded to a residence in Chinatown after receiving a call about a domestic violence on July 6 at 9:34pm.

When the officer arrived, an out-of-control Teregeyo was seen being calmed down by another man.

Police learned that the drunken Teregeyo got mad after one of his nieces refused to do something for him. He smacked her in the face. When the other niece tried to call the police, he punched her twice in the head.

When the stepmother confronted Teregeyo, he kicked her and punched her twice in the head, causing her to faint. He then allegedly punched his nephew in the face and kicked a laptop.
