Man hits girlfriend with soju bottle
A woman was injured when her intoxicated boyfriend allegedly hit her mouth with a soju bottle during a drinking session outside a barracks in Chalan Kanoa Monday night.
The victim’s upper lip was bleeding and swollen when a police officer arrived at the scene, according to a police report.
The boyfriend, 42-year-old Charles S. Rechesengel, was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace. Bail was initially set at $5,250 cash.
Detective Catherine B. Pangelinan stated in her report that a police officer responded to a barracks in Chalan Kanoa District 3 on Tuesday, July 5, at 12:44am, after receiving a call about a domestic disturbance.
Pangelinan said the victim, who called the police, told the officer that her boyfriend, Rechesengel, hit her mouth with a soju bottle.
The victim stated that Rechesengel and his friends had been drinking beer outside the barracks for the Liberation Day celebration.
The victim and Rechesengel later had an argument that escalated to the suspect allegedly hitting his girlfriend on the mouth with a soju bottle he was holding. He then began cursing her, prompting her to walk away and call the police.
The suspect left the area, but other responding police officers later spotted him near the barracks and arrested him.
