Zoning Office administrator Douglas T. Wyatt has been terminated.

The Zoning board terminated Wyatt’s services on July 8, 2011, “without cause” as per Section 15(B)(1) of his contract, in accordance with the Excepted Service Personnel Regulations.

In a statement yesterday, the Zoning board said it appreciates Wyatt’s professional performance over the last year.

“At this time, the Zoning board believes that it is in the best interests of the Zoning Office and the residents of Saipan to discontinue the services of Wyatt,” the statement adds.

The board has designated Therese Ogumoro as the acting Zoning administrator. Ogumoro has worked for the Zoning Office for more than four years and has served as acting administrator on two previous occasions.

Saipan Tribune tried to obtain comments from Zoning officials yesterday but all of them referred to the prepared statement.

That statement said the board remains committed to good planning and proper zoning for the island of Saipan and knows that Ogumoro will continue the good work of prior Zoning administrators.

“We expect to see further progress with the improvements to and implementation of the Saipan Zoning Law under Ms. Ogumoro,” said board chair Diego Blanco.
