Police eye septic tanks for Luhk sisters
The disappearance of sisters Faloma and Maleina Luhk marks its sixth week today with still no trace of their whereabouts.
As this developed, a source at the Department of Public Safety, disclosed over the weekend that investigators are now considering a search of septic tanks.
DPS refused to comment yesterday if any search was done in the last two days.
A DPS source said investigators may seek consent from the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. to search septic tanks located in selected locations. It is not clear, however, how the search will be conducted.
FBI special agents and DPS investigators had already conducted searches at a landfill, caves, jungles, beaches, cliff lines, underwater, villages, abandoned houses, and other areas. Many volunteers, including a tracking dog from Hawaii, joined some of those searches.
Despite a $50,000 cash reward put up for information on the whereabouts of 10-year-old Faloma and 9-year-old Maleina, authorities have still failed to find the girls. No one has been arrested yet.
The girls were last seen near a bus stop pavilion in As Teo on May 25.
