One Economy, the CNMI Department of Commerce, BroadMap LLC, and the New America Foundation will be conducting a townhall meeting to understand residents’ attitudes toward broadband.

The program is part of an initiative of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to develop and maintain a comprehensive, interactive, and searchable nationwide map of existing broadband capability and availability throughout each state or territory.

In addition, One Economy aims to improve broadband adoption in CNMI by better understanding the barriers to adopting broadband that residents may face.

The town hall meetings will be held in June:

-Tuesday, June 21, 2011, 6pm, at the Conference Room, Administration Bldg., Capital Hill

-Wednesday, June 22, 2011, 6pm, at the Kagman Community Center

-Tuesday, June 28, 2011, 6pm, at the San Vicente Elementary School cafeteria

-Wednesday, June 29, 2011, 6pm, at the Dandan Elementary School cafeteria

The public’s attendance and participation in this community engagement will help map Internet access, usage, and attitudes. Refreshments will be served.
