IT&E Voyagers, Best Choice still atop 8-ball standings
The IT&E Voyagers of Jonny’s Bar & Grill and D’Pirates Bar & Grill’s Best Choice are still the frontrunners of their respective divisions in the Saipan Billiards Association Budweiser Open 8-Ball League.
IT&E Voyagers swamped Obyan’s USSP Peleliu Club Turtles, 6-1, at home and improved their card to 81-31 for the lead in the Agingan division.
IT&E Incredibles, Jonny’s Home Boyz, and the Docomo Hustlers are in a three-way tie for second in the Agingan division with their similar 75-37 slates.
In the inter-league play, Obyan’s Shark Attack upset IT&E Incredibles, 3-4, on the road in Wild Bill’s Bar & Grill; Home Boyz shrugged off the Pirates, 5-2, in an away match at D’Pirates Bar & Grill; and the Docomo Hustlers downed USSP’s Fotten Palau, 5-2, in a road game.
D’Pirates’ Best Choice remains atop the six-team Obyan standings and improved its slate to 54-58 after downing X-Tream, 4-3, on the road at VFW Post 3457.
Fotten Palau is still in second place and ahead of Shark Attack (48-64), X-Tream (42-70), the Turtles (38-74), and the Pirates (31-81).
Agingan notables include one-time 8-Ball sinkers Home Boyz’s Mario Diola, IT&E Voyagers’ Jojo Talibong, and Docomo Hustlers’ Rowel Mariano, while IT&E Voyagers’ Rolly Villanueva ran the table for a league-best eight times this season.
In the Obyan play, X-Tream’s George Lizardo sank the 8-Ball off the break for the second time, while teammate Chester Cuento has ran the rack a division-best three times this season. Seven other players pulled off the feat once.
