A 19-year-old woman has filed a complaint against a 46-year-old friend who allegedly raped her when she was 16 years old.

Blas A. Manzanares was arrested for sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree. He was taken to the Superior Court yesterday afternoon for a bail hearing.

A $50,000 cash bail was initially imposed for the defendant’s temporary liberty.

Detective Flora Danica B. Aguon stated in her report that, on June 8, 2011, she interviewed the victim at the Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigations Bureau.

Aguon said the victim identified Manzanares as the person who allegedly raped her when she was 16 and that she was able to locate his apartment in Dandan.

Aguon said according to the victim, she was 10 years old when she met Manzanares.

She said she grew to trust the defendant because he was kind, generous, and friendly.

She said she would often skip school and call Manzanares to pick her up at a nearby bus stop. The defendant would allegedly take her to his apartment room in Dandan where they would hang out for the day.

The victim told police that when she turned 16, Manzanares raped her. After that incident, the defendant allegedly no longer checked on her for several years.

The victim said that in January 2011, she was at the Commonwealth Health Center when she saw Manzanares.

When she asked why he no longer met with her after the incident at his apartment, Manzanares allegedly told her he was afraid she might report him to police.
