DPS sets seatbelt checkpoints today

The Department of Public Safety’s Police Division and Traffic Section will be conducting Occupant Protection Child Restraint (OPCR) Checkpoints on the date and times listed below:

-Thursday, June 16, 2011, 3pm, Beach Road, Garapan, near Bank Pacific.

-Thursday (same day), June 16, 2011, 5pm, Beach Road, Susupe, near Minatchom Atdao Pavilion.

The first checkpoint will be on Beach Road Garapan by Bank Pacific. This operation will commence at approximately 3pm, and will terminate at approximately 4:15pm.

The second checkpoint will be on Beach Road Susupe by Minachom Atdao Pavilion. This operation will commence at approximately 5pm, and will terminate at approximately at 6:1pm.

Each checkpoint conducted will last at least 75 minutes (1 hour 15 minutes) at each location. These activities are part of the Department of Public Safety’s efforts to deter, detect, and ensure that all vehicle occupants are wearing seat belts, car seats, booster seats, and or proper passenger safety belts and devices.

In addition, traffic officers will be conducting Highway Criminal Interdictions, Saturation Patrol, Aggressive Driver Interdictions, and Laser Technology (Speed Detection) activities.[I] (DPS)[/I]
