Public comments sought on Defense’s public access plan
The Guam and Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands State Historic Preservation Offices, in coordination with Joint Region Marianas, are accepting public comments for the Department of Defense public access plan through Oct. 24.
Required by the Guam and CNMI Programmatic Agreement associated with the Marine Corps Realignment, this public access plan will facilitate visits to cultural and historic sites of interest and significance located on DoD properties in Guam and the CNMI.
“This is a collaborative process,” said Jennifer Farley, natural resources specialist, Joint Region Marianas. “Community involvement is so crucial at this phase, as we draft a plan designed to balance access to cultural and historic sites on military installations with military operations, and improve current procedures.”
