Matansa FC still perfect

Monroyo) Defending champion Matansa FC stretched its winning streak to three after shutting out Paire FC, 4-0, in the second game in the girls U15 division of the 2011 NMIFA Youth Football Fall League last Saturday at the San Antonio Elementary School Field.

Matansa capitalized on Paire’s defensive lapses early to notch three goals in the first half en route to its third victory in as many games. Paire dropped to a 1-0-1- win-draw-loss record.

Kimiko Tenorio nailed the first goal for Matansa from the left side of the penalty arc in the 17th minute with the ball deflecting off the hands of Paire goalie Scarlet Chen and rolling in to the left post of the goal. Then three minutes later, it was Patricia Chavez’s turn to kick the ball from the right side of the penalty arc with the leather passing through two Paire defenders and going in.

Tenorio scored her third goal a few minutes before the first half ended to give Matansa a 3-0 halftime lead. Tahlia Hideo also made it to the scoreboard with her goal in the second half.

Shirley’s FC 7, Tan Holdings FC 0

The other girls U15 game at the San Antonio pitch was also a lopsided match with Shirley’s FC topping Tan Holdings, 7-0.

Melody Johnson was unstoppable for Shirley’s FC as she drilled a hat-trick in the first half. Shirley’s FC’s four other goals were scored in the first half with Jeraldine Castillo, Alexandra Vergara, and Kyla Ito tallying one each. Shirley’s FC was also credited with an own goal to improve to a 2-0-0 card.

Tan Holdings FC absorbed its second loss in as many matches.

BOYS U15

Paire 12, Shirley’s FC 1 0

Paire broke into the win column after two games, following a 12-0 demolition of Shirley’s FC 1 at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.

Hunter Jewell and Brian Lee logged four goals apiece for Paire, which also drew one goal each from Joel Fruit, Kwang Jae Kim, and Jeff Cheon.

Jewell found the back of the net early, scoring his first goal in the fourth minute. He and Lee alternately attacked the defense of Shirley’s FC 1 and by the end of the first half Paire was comfortably ahead, 7-0, off the latter’s four goals and Jewell’s three. Three other Paire strikers joined the scoring spree in the second half to complete its domination of Shirley’s FC.

Matansa 4, MP United 2 4

The second match at the Oleai pitch had MP United 2 drawing Matansa.

David Kim, Ryu Tanzawa, and Chris Park contributed goals for MP United 2, while Sean Perez and Jireh Yobech lit up the scoreboard for Matansa.

MP United 2 now has a 1-1-1 slate, the same record Matansa owns as these two teams are tied for third place behind the undefeated MP United 1 and Tan Holdings (2-0-0).

MP United 1 17, Shirley’s FC 2 0

MP United retained its perfect record after crushing Shirley’s FC 2, 17-0.

Jey Joyner paced MP United with four goals, while Ryota Ito collected three. Dakota Hall and Jake Lee contributed two each, while Andrew Johnson, Enrico Del Rosario, and Kaisei Toda scored one apiece.

Shirley’s FC 2, which is composed of female strikers, fell to a 0-0-2 record and has scored only two goals and has given up 26.
