TAMUNING, Guam-For the third consecutive year, Subway claimed first-place honors among mega chains as Top Healthy Option, Top Service, and Most Popular in Zagat Fast Food Restaurant Survey. The 2011 national survey covers 103 chains voted on by 6,064 diners and was divided into three categories: large chains (up to 5,000 U.S. outlets); mega chains (5,000-plus units); and quick-refreshment chains (focusing on beverages, ice cream, and similar items).

The results of a recent local survey comparing quick service restaurant chains in Guam mirror national rankings. Guam diners ranked Subway very high in the convenience and service categories and first place in taste, value, and overall menu options.

Gary Schiff, director of Business Development for Subway Pacific, acknowledges consumer preferences. “What keeps our customers coming to Subway is our brand’s variety of sandwiches and toppings, healthy meal choices, and quick service from breakfast to midnight,” said Schiff. “The results of both the local and national surveys validate that our customers appreciate what our brand is all about-fresh, healthy food made exactly the way you want it.”

Subway also received a Grade A on the Eat This, Not That! Restaurant Report Card, the first chain ever to achieve that grade, as reported in the Sept. 13, 2011, issue of Today’s Health. The article also made note of Subway’s newest initiative to reduce sodium content by 15 percent in its regular sandwiches and 28 percent in its Fresh Fit sandwiches.

The Subway menu offers quick and healthy alternatives to conventional fast foods. The menu features the signature “8 under 6” sandwiches that offer a variety of low fat options.

Select locations now serve breakfast sandwiches made with either egg or egg whites to enjoy with freshly brewed Seattle’s Best Coffee. (Subway)
