Emon Lodge caging returns in March

After taking a break in 2011, Emon Lodge No. 179 is hosting an open league this year.
Dubbed as the 2012 Emon Lodge No. 179 Brotherhood Basketball League, the second edition of the competition will kick off on March 4 at the Civic Center Basketball Court in Susupe.
League organizers are hoping to accommodate 10 to 12 teams and each squad is allowed to have a maximum of 12 players in its roster. Entrance fee is only $500 and teams are required to submit a copy of players’ registration/waiver forms. More information, such as game schedule, format, assigned uniform colors, and meeting dates will be announced later.
The Emon Lodge caging had its inaugural contest in 2010 at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium with nine teams entered in the first season. The list includes Armatech, Oches, Marianas Wireless, Mobil, MBI-Right Guard, Wings Travel, Tropical Laundry, Marianas Resort, and the Sparks.
The Jun Estolas-led Mobil went on to win the championship against Armatech, 93-80 Estolas was named MVP and also made it to the Mythical Five, joining teammate Kelvin Fitial, Armatech’s Esdrelon and Junar Guiab, and the Sparks’ Tom Santos. Two more Mobil players also gained individual awards, as Marvin Rabauliman took the best in steals plum and Jomary Tumaquip got the best in assists trophy. Marvin Deocares was adjudged Best Coach, while Armatech’s Bruce Berline and Kirk Schuler notchedthe best in rebounds and best defender awards, respectively. Joeten Superstores took the sportsmanship award while Oches and the Sparks were awarded the fourth and third place trophies.
