Rites of Passage 7 this Saturday
No less than Universal Reality Combat Championship-Philippines bantamweight titleholder Justin “The Shocker” Cruz will headline Rites of Passage 7: Fists of Fury set for Saturday, May 23, at the Saipan World Resort.
Cruz will be taking on up-and-coming fighter Derick “El Peligro” Rangamar of Marianas Elite in the super fight to be held at the Royal Taga Hall of the Susupe landmark.
Trench Tech president Cuki Alvarez said so far six other fights are set with the main event between PXC heavyweight champion Manny “The Enforcer” Chong against Saipan big man Ton “Peskadot” Robert shaping up to be most interesting.
SHOOTO Japan’s No. 7-ranked Jess “The Spiderman” Taitano will also see action against Saipan’s “Taby” Jay Muna in the semi main event.
Another must-see is fight is the one involving Trench Tech standout Giovanni “Palaksi” Sablan and Roy Matagolai
Japan’s Joji “Akuma” Matsunaga, meanwhile, will take on Team Zogai’s Skep “Dark Assassin” Palacios in a Japan vs. Saipan matchup.
Trench Tech’s Slade “The Rage” Adelbai also returns to the ring when he goes toe-to-toe with Guam’s Troy “Destroy” Munoz.
Meanwhile, Marianas Elite top gun Maitai “The Charger” Charley will be throwing down with Trench Tech hotshot Tom “Light Out” Kim in another undercard fight.
Tickets for Rites of Passage 7: Fists of Fury are sold for $25 and are available at Boarderline, 670 Rocksteady Shop, Hannam Market, Mobil Kagman, Flair bar, and Trench Tech Gym.

In related news, Trench Tech Gym head instructor Tetsuji Kato lost to Kenichiro Togashi via decision in one of the undercards for Shooto Japan’s 20th Anniversary held last May 8 in Japan.
Kato, who dropped to a professional MMA record of 20 wins and 9 losses, lost in the scorecard of their welterweight bout, 28-30, 29-29, 28-29.
He has been living and training local MMA enthusiasts on Saipan for the last five years.
