MHS teacher named among 10 Pacific TOYs
A Marianas High School teacher, James E. Phillips, has been chosen as one of the Pacific Teachers of the Year and will be honored at the 26th annual Pacific Educational Conference, at the University of Guam in July.
Phillips, a teacher for five years who currently teaches marine science, honors astronomy, and AP physics in grades 9–12 at MHS, was accorded the honor by the Pacific Resources for Education and Learning.
This program provides an opportunity for outstanding teachers from American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia (Kosrae, Pohnpei, Chuuk, and Yap), Guam, Hawaii, Marshall Islands, and Palau to attend the three-day conference.
The 26th annual Pacific Educational Conference will take place July 15–17, 2009, at the University of Guam, Mangilao, Guam, and is one of the largest gatherings of educators in the Pacific region.
