Gold’s Gym Body Success Challenge competitors lose 469 lbs

The results of Gold’s Gym Saipan’s “2009 Body Success Challenge” were recently announced and more than $10,000 in cash and prizes were awarded. The 32 individuals who completed the competition lost a combined total weight of 469 lbs.

The Body Success Challenge was primarily a three-month weight loss competition where substantial cash and prizes were awarded to men and women who lost the most weight as a percentage of their original starting weight. In addition, there was a “Most Amazing Body Transformation” category that awarded prizes to the person who lost the most fat, gained the most lean body mass (muscle), and had the most visibly impressive body transformation based upon their before and after photos.

Of the 60 initial competitors, 32 completed the competition by weighing-out and taking their “after photos” exactly three months after their initial weigh-in date. Participants did not have to be Gold’s Gym members.

Gold’s Gym co-owners Eric Plinske and Josephine Togawa said “We are extremely proud of all our competitors and absolutely amazed with some of the body transformations that have taken place.” Plinske cited the generous contributions of co-sponsors, including Coca-Cola, Subway, Shell, Michelob Ultra, and Fiji Water.

Prizes were up for grabs in separate weight loss categories, including: women ages 16 to 39; men ages 16 to 39; women ages 40 and above; and men ages 40 and above.

The weight loss prizes were awarded for most weight lost as a percentage of original starting weight: 1st place (each category) was $1,000 cash and a free 1-year Gold’s Gym membership and 2nd place (each category) was $500 cash and a free six-month Gold’s Gym membership. The prize for the Most Amazing Body Transformation Category (one overall winner) was $1,000 cash and a 1-year Gold’s Gym membership. Following are the winners for each of the categories:

1st Place – Nadya Manglona (lost 20 lbs and lost 14.10 percent of initial body weight)

2nd Place – Nessea Cruz (lost 17.60 lbs and lost 12.87 percent of initial body weight)

1st Place – Fe Elenzano (lost 28 lbs and lost 21.34 percent of initial body weight)

2nd Place – Fely Santos (lost 27.80 lbs and lost 19.09 percent of initial body weight)

1st Place – Charles Peters (lost 45.20 lbs and lost 16.13 percent of initial body weight)

2nd Place – Thomas Rabauliman (lost 45.20 lbs and lost 13.83 percent of initial body weight)

1st Place – John Davis (lost 20.60 lbs and lost 7.15 percent of initial body weight)

2nd Place – Eduardo Elenzano (lost 10.80 lbs and lost 6.53 percent of initial body weight)

Overall Winner: Andrew Fojas (lost 14.60 lbs, lost 51.61 percent of body fat, and lost 9.68 percent of initial body weight)
