Shell gas prices now over $3 a gallon
Motorists now have to spend over $3 a gallon of self-serve gasoline to fill up their vehicles after Shell Marianas yesterday raised its pump prices by 15 cents a gallon, the first price increase since February.
Mobil Oil Marianas service stations, however, said they have not yet received notice of any price increase as of 4pm yesterday, although Mobil raised its pump prices by 15 cents a gallon on Tuesday night, only to roll them back on Wednesday.
Shell’s self-serve regular unleaded gasoline is now $3.12 a gallon, from only $2.97 a gallon on Wednesday.
A self-serve premium unleaded gasoline is now $3.44 a gallon, while diesel fuel is now $3.30 a gallon at Shell’s eight service stations on Saipan.
Prices of self-serve gasoline at Mobil stations remained yesterday at $2.97 a gallon for regular, while super unleaded, $3.27 a gallon.
Mobil and Shell have lately been raising pump prices on Saipan without advance notification to consumers.
CNMI consumers pay much higher for gasoline than their counterparts on the U.S. mainland. The U.S. average for a gallon of regular is $2.218, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said Monday, up 1 cent from last week.
