Yang victorious in women’s May tournament
Kyung A. Yang topped the CNMI Women’s Golf Association Monthly Tournament after shooting a net score of 68 last Saturday at the Laolao Bay Golf resort west course.
Yang came away with a gross score of 91 following a 45 and 46 in the front and back nine. Her score was then sliced to 68 by virtue of her 23 USGA handicap.
Masayo Miyamoto finished second in the May edition of the women’s golfest after registering a net 71. The 11-handicapper carded an 82 following a 39-44 record in the greens.
Dolores Yamagishi came in third with her net of 72 built around a gross score of 95 (46-49) and 23 handicap.
A total of 21 CWGA members took part in the May tournament. Established in March 2007, CWGA is a nonprofit organization founded to promote, encourage, and introduce women to the sport of golf in the CNMI.
The organization intends to accomplish the following: 1. Promote civic and community interest in golf; 2. Establish and encourage competition and good sportsmanship; 3. Promote and provide social functions of the members and their families; 4. Promote youth golf activities; and 5. To do any or all things necessary and proper to accomplish its purpose and intention.
CWGA also commits its members to abide by a set of values that will further enrich a golfer’s performance, attitude, and conduct—adopted from the USA Junior Golf Association.
