A 6-year-old girl nearly drowned at the Fishing Base in Garapan Sunday afternoon.

DPS Boating Safety officers learned that the girl will be released from the Commonwealth Health Center upon completion of her antibiotic regimen, said Department of Public Safety spokesperson Eric David yesterday.

David said that on Sunday at 3:24pm, a woman called DPS 911 and reported a possible drowning incident at the Fishing Base beach site area.

Officers responded to the scene and learned from bystanders that the victim had already been brought to CHC.

At CHC, an officer saw that the girl was conscious and was responding to nurses.

A doctor told the officer that the victim will be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit for observation.

The report did not mention the circumstances of how the girl nearly drowned at the beach and who saved her.

Police is conducting a follow-up investigation.
