The Social Security Administration office on Saipan said all applicants with “240” CNMI immigration permits are called back in, and not just those with “240K” permits.

Bridgette M. Camacho, SSA Saipan district manager, said Social Security card applicants previously denied should check with her office if they are holding any of the 24 classes of “240” permits.

“It could be 240B, 240D, or 240K. We entertain holders of any of 24 different classes of 240 permits,” she said.

The CNMI Division of Immigration amended the regulations effective Jan. 1 which changed the categories or numbers of entry/work permits which didn’t match with Social Security’s procedures or categories, forcing it to stop accepting applications from 240 permit holders.

Leslie S. Walker, regional communications director of the Social Security Administration Region 9 office in California, said SSA now has “interim regulations” to allow 240 permit holders to apply for a Social Security card.
