Limes lifts Tan Holdings to U13 win
Alex Limes toyed with Matansa’s defense, or the lack of it, to lead Tan Holdings to a 3-2 victory in the boys U13 division of the 2009 NMIFA Spring Youth Football League.
Limes drilled his first goal at the 4:25 mark and scored his second one at 4:35. Tony Bai gave Tan Holdings its third goal in the game at the 4:37 mark.
In the U6 division, Tan Holdings also won, downing Paire FC, 4-1. Tan Holdings FC fired three early goals in the first half before slowing down in the second, making only one. Paire FC nailed its lone goal in the match in the first half.
Three games were scheduled for the co-ed U8 division with MP United posting two wins and Paire FC tallying one.
MPU-1 defeated Paire FC-1, 2-0, on Clayton Izuka’s twin goals. Izuka drilled his first goal in the seventh minute and canned his second one in the 11th minute.
MPU-3 gave the club its second victory in the co-ed U8 after thumping IFC, 1-0.
Paire FC-2 had one goal apiece in the first and second half to beat Tan Holdings, 2-0, in the other boys U8 game.
In the U10 division, Paire FC-2 clobbered Matansa G-1, 5-0, while Matansa 2 redeemed the club with a 3-1 triumph over Tan Holdings. Matansa 2 tallied two goals in the first half and added one more in the second. Tan Holdings made it into the scoreboard in the second half.
The league is on its final three weeks and is scheduled to cap the season with a youth football festival on May 30 at the Hopwood Junior High School Field.
Around 500 kids are playing in the youth league, which holds a co-ed competition in the U4, U6, U8, and U10 divisions. U13 and U18 categories have separate contests for girls and boys.
