After substantial coverage of the January 2009 Winter Festival of Runs on Saipan, Japan’s Body+ magazine is preparing another full length feature on the Northern Mariana Islands centered on last month’s 2009 Saipan Sportsfest.

Body+ is anticipated to release a four to six page feature in this month’s issue highlighting the Tagaman Triathlon held in April 2009. In addition to a photographer, writer and editor, the magazine had three talent stars join Tagaman as a team and share their experience. The magazine is published monthly by Jitsugyou no Nihonsha and reaches 70,000 readers, largely men and women in their 20s and 30s.

“We are very pleased that Body+ magazine returned so quickly to prepare another feature on sports attractions in the Northern Marianas,” said Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Perry Tenorio. “We have a large number of sports events to offer visiting athletes year round, and we’re happy the word is getting out.”

Other attractions on Saipan were covered during the magazine’s familiarization tour, including the annual Flame Tree Arts Festival, Laolao Bay Golf Resort, Managaha, Saipan Botanical Garden, Joeten Shopping Center, and a sunset dinner cruise. The journalists and celebrity runners stayed at Pacific Islands Club Saipan, where they also took in the spa and other amenities.

The anticipated publicity value of the ad is up to $76,000. Support for the magazine coverage was provided by MVA, Saipan Botanical Garden, Tasi Tours & Transportation, and PIC. (PR)
