Motorist in four-car collision sues driver
A motorist is suing the driver who allegedly triggered a four-car collision along Beach Road in Illiyan that severely damaged his van and left him injured.
Xian Guo Zhao sued Daniel Asare Mensah for negligence.
Zhao asked the Superior Court to order Mensah to pay him damages, interest, and court costs.
According to the complaint, on Sept. 28, 2007, Zhao was driving south on a Chevrolet passenger van along Beach Road when his van was hit at the rear by a 2005 Honda sedan being driven by Mensah.
As a result, Zhao’s van lurched forward and hit the vehicle in front of him, which in turn hit another vehicle in front, resulting in a quadruple auto collision.
The force of the impact injured Zhao and his van was severely damaged. He suffered pain in the neck and head, and had lacerations on the forehead.
Zhao was brought to the Commonwealth Heath Center.
The Department of Public Safety concluded that Mensah was at fault.
“As a further direct and proximate result of the recklessness and gross negligence of Mr. Mensah, Mr. Zhao has suffered damages such as lost wages, all to his damage in amounts which will be determined at trial,” the complaint said.
