Senate President Pete P. Reyes has asked the NMI Retirement Fund to disclose staffing and travel spending since Fiscal Year 2002, as well as the austerity measures taken to cope with declining revenues.

Reyes, in an April 27 letter to Retirement Fund board chair Juan T. Guerrero, asked whether the pension system office has increased or decreased staffing since FY 2002. He asked for a yearly breakdown of the agency’s staffing levels.

“What steps, if any, has the Fund taken to address declining revenues, and, specifically, what cost-reduction measures have been implemented?” Reyes asked Guerrero.

The Senate president also asked Fund to provide his office a “report detailing the travel history of any travel performed by either the staff of the Retirement Fund or the board members of the Fund from fiscal year 2002 to present.”

As of yesterday, Reyes’s office has yet to receive a response from the Retirement Fund, which separately confirmed with Saipan Tribune receipt of the request letter.
