RP network features ‘Battle Ready’
Saipan received some exceptional regional exposure when ABS-CBN ran a story on Eduard “The Landslide” Foloyang’s recent win in Gorilla Warfare’s much lauded “Battle Ready” event.
Foloyang’s victory over Jerome Norita of Marianas Elite was aired on The Filipino Channel this past weekend along with a story featuring the trip by he and the URCC (Universal Reality Combat Challenge) husband-and-wife team of Alvin and Bubbles Aguilar.
The broadcast noted that Foloyang made positive waves in the local Filipino community as well as captured the respect of local fight fans and fighters alike.
“It was my first time to come to Saipan and I am very happy to be here. I just want to put on a great show. Everyone here has been very nice and welcoming,” Said Foloyang prior to his fight against Norita.
Foloyang incidentally won his welterweight match against Norita via a first round technical knockout.
Many in the local Filipino community were excited upon hearing of the visit stating it was the first time a true MMA fighter came for such a show.
Although his bout was a non-title one, the URCC signed on with Gorilla Warfare to offer support and help expose fighters from both ends of the spectrum.
“It’s really about promoting our Asian and Pacific Islander fighters. They need to experience other types of fighting styles, this is our goal,” said Bubbles Aguilar.
True to their word, the URCC will be coming back to Saipan later this year to help put their experience and expertise on the local fight scene. (PR)
