SANTA RITA, Guam—More than 60 computers were donated to the Guam Public School System during a presentation held Tuesday, April 21, at Marcial Sablan Elementary School in Agat. The computers will be put to use at Marcial Sablan Elementary School and Tamuning Elementary School.

Naval Facilities Engineering Command Marianas executed the transfer.

“Computers are so vital to the education of our children, and we are very pleased to be in a position where we have excess computers and corresponding peripherals that will be put to great use by many of our young students,” said Sam Roundtree, NAVFAC Marianas business manager.

Marcial Sablan Elementary School is comprised of more than 400 students, and Tamuning Elementary School consists of approximately 600 students. GPSS Superintendent Dr. Nerissa Bretania-Shafer and school principals were on hand to accept the donation. Bretania-Shafer thanked NAVFAC Marianas.

“Now almost every classroom will have the benefit of a computer,” Bretania-Shafer said. “These will really help our teachers to enhance their instructional time.”

NAVFAC Marianas’ mission is to strengthen combat readiness through military construction, installation management, and facility operations support. (USN)
