Hustlers crush Fielders, 10-3

The Hustlers crushed the Fielders, 10-3, at the resumption of play in the Big League Division of the 2009 Saipan Little League Baseball Tuesday night at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.

Anthony Aldan pitched for the Hustlers in six and a half innings, giving up 10 hits and striking out three batters.

On offense, Aldan, who was the leadoff batter, went 2-for-4 and managed to reach third base at best in the bottom of the first, while first baseman JP Lizama was 1-of-3, and made two RBIs in the bottom of the third.

Catcher John Pangelinan came through with two runs in the first and fourth inning on a 3-for-4 at bat, while outfielder Ben Leon Guerrero Jr. was 3-for-3 with two runs in the first and third inning.

Rightfielder Marvin Kaipat was also perfect at bat, going 3-for-3 and scoring two runs in the fourth and sixth inning.

Others who reached home were Giovanni Ayuyu, 2-for-4, with two runs in the first and third, Tony Rogolofoi, 2-for-3, with the teams’ lone run in the second, and Delbert Aguon, 2-for-3, with a run in the fourth.

It was the first back-to-back wins for the Hustlers and their third in five games of the season.

Ioanis Rasa started at the mound for the Fielders, giving up six runs on 11 hits by the Hustlers against him. Elton Santos relieved him in the bottom of the fourth inning and the former struck out five batters, but allowed 12 hits and four runs.

The Fielders suffered their fifth defeat in six outings.

Today’s game at 6pm will be between the Tanapag Falcons and Ol’Aces. Ol’Aces are currently on top of the team standings and are seeking their fifth win against a lone defeat.

The Falcons are tied with the Hustlers in second place with similar 3-2 records.
