The Autism Society of the CNMI would like to invite everyone to an Open House and two workshops at the NMPASI FS360 Training Center at the NMPASI office in Middle Road on Saturday, April 18. Parents will be available to answer questions and provide information about autism throughout the day. Information regarding the ASCNMI and future meetings will also be available.

From 9:30am to 10:30am, there will be a workshop taught by Tom Thornburgh and Greg Borja of NMPASI that uses the Rugged Outdoors Physical Experiential System (ROPES) to teach greater awareness of what individuals with autism and other disabilities face, as well as etiquette toward individuals with disabilities. This is a workshop with a lot of activities, so participants are asked to wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

From 10:30am to 12pm, there will be a workshop called Parental Involvement taught by Vince Merfalen that teaches parents and family members how to become more involved in your child’s education and work in collaboration with your child’s school.

All families and friends of individuals with autism and autism related spectrum disorders and other disabilities are invited to attend. Seating is limited for both these workshops, so if you would like to attend, call Liza or Carmen at NMPASI at 235-7273/4 or send an e-mail to as_cnmi@yahoo.com to reserve your seat. (PR)
