Nurses from all over the Pacific basin are coming this June to Saipan as it is the CNMI Nursing Association’s turn to host and organize the annual American Pacific Nursing Leaders Council Conference.

This educational conference invites nursing professionals from American Samoa, Chuuk, CNMI, Guam, Hawaii, Kosrae, Marshall Islands, Palau, Pohnpei, Yap and Japan to facilitate discussion about the region’s current leading health issues, conduct Continuing Education classes, host a cultural night, as well as promote and create a deeper appreciation and awareness of the nursing industry to the community.

“We are very excited to have this opportunity and we are going to do our very best as a nonprofit, volunteer group to give the nursing delegations a rewarding and educational experience,” said CNMI Nursing Association vice president Bertha Camacho.

Last year, the APNLC Conference was held in Guam and the Council announced Saipan as the next host as part of the annual rotation among the jurisdictions. Saipan last hosted the conference 10 years ago.

For over 30 years, the APNLC has served as communication mechanism between the nursing professionals, examined solutions, shared expertise of nurse members, as well as collaborated with partners such as the World Health Organization and U.S. Department of Public Health and Services.

The five-day conference will be held June 15-19, 2009, at the Hyatt Regency Saipan SandCastle with the theme “Nurses Empowering Lives.”

Registration is ongoing now on www.mpnurses.org up to May 15. After May 15, the late registration fees will apply, so all nurses are encouraged to register early.
