125 slated to graduate from NMC next month
The Northern Marianas College will confer diplomas and certificates to 125 students who are about to graduate next month.
According to the Office of Admissions and Records, that number is as of March 31. It is still working with other graduating candidates to ensure and verify that they have met the requirements. The office said the figure may increase at the end of this month.
Saipan Tribune learned that of the 125 graduates, 29 will come from the college’s bachelor of science in elementary education; 32 will complete the liberal arts program; business has three; nursing, 20; accounting, six; business management, 10; computer applications, three; criminal justice, three; hospitality management, three; early childhood education, 13; related services technician, one; and construction trades, two.
The graduating class of Spring 2009 recently elected their class officers at a meeting held Tuesday at Room A-9. NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez and other NMC officials were on hand to help with the election process. Jack Kiyoshi Jr. was chosen president; Edwin Correa Jr., vice president; Nerine Villagomez, secretary; and Christina Cruz, treasurer.
The officers will lead the graduating class in developing the commencement exercises with the selection of a theme, a keynote speaker, a venue for the graduation banquet, and a date and time for the graduation Mass.
Fernandez said she is extremely proud of this year’s batch of graduates.
“The NMC family is extremely proud of the students who will be graduating in May. They have worked so hard and have made many sacrifices to accomplish their educational goals. We look forward to joining the graduates and their families in celebrating their momentous achievement at the graduation ceremony,” she said.
NMC, she said, will be working with each graduate to provide them with whatever assistance they need for their transition to full time jobs, or for some, a transition into a four-year university.
”We also hope that graduating students become active members of the NMC Alumni Association,” she added.
