Trials for the 2009 McDonald’s All Schools Track and Field Championships will resume next week at the Oleai Sports Complex.

Qualifying tournaments for the running, throwing, and jumping events in the All Schools started last week with elementary, junior high, and high school student-athletes from Public School System joining the trials.

Next week, from April 6 to 8, Northern Marianas Athletics, which is organizing the trials, will be having qualifiers for the 100m, 200m, 1500m, and 4x100m relay runs, and long jump.

These events are for 8-and-under, 10-and-under and 12-and-under student-athletes from Mt. Carmel School, Grace Christian Academy, Calvary Christian Academy, Saipan International School, Seventh Day Adventist, Brilliant Star, Saipan Community School, and Ladera International School.

Also set for April 8 are qualifiers for high school and junior high. Invited to join the junior high trials are Hopwood, GCA, Whispering Palms, CCA, SIS, SCS, and Chacha Oceanview. The high school qualifiers are to Marianas High School, Saipan Southern, GCA, SIS, Kagman High School, Marianas Baptist Academy, and Northern Marianas Academy.

Trials for junior high and high school will continue on April 16 and 23 with 13 events, namely 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m runs, 4x100m and 4x400m relay races, shot put, discuss, and javelin throw, and long and high jump.

The next qualifiers for 12-and-under, 10-and-under, and 8-and-under are scheduled for April 13 to 15, and April 20 to 22. Events to be played in these dates are 400m and 800m runs, and 4x400m relay race, softball throw, and javelin throw.

Only the Top 8 student-athletes in each event are eligible to compete in the All Schools, which will be held on May 9. The remaining two slots are reserved for Rota and Tinian students. In case Tinian and Rota do not have participants in an event, the next two finishers will take the slots. Also, student-athletes are allowed to join only four events.
