Eduard “Landslide” Folayang of the Philippines became the only off-island fighter to win in Gorilla Warfare MMA “Battle Ready” after fashioning out a first round technical knockout of Jerome Norita in the semi main event.

Folayang, who streaked to his fourth win in as many bouts, used his quickness and power to immediately bring Norita down to the ground.

The Filipino fighter then proceeded to pummel Norita with left and right combinations to the head and shoulders and the match ended in the 52-second mark of the first round.

Seconds later Folayang went to Norita’s corner to acknowledge his opponent’s effort to the loud cheer of the huge crowd.

Someone from the crowd then sang Black Eyed Peas’ Bebot.

The 20-year-old Norita of Marianas Elite fell to a 2-2 win-loss record.

Folayang, the 25-year-old reigning champion in his weight class in the Universal Reality Combat Championship, thanked everyone in attendance for coming out to watch.

URCC is the first professional mixed martial arts event based in the Philippines.

It was his first time to fight outside his country. He was accompanied by husband-and-wife mixed martial arts promoters Alvin and Bubbles Aguilar.

“Saipan is beautiful and the people too,” Folayang said during a brief interview with ring announcer Brad Ruszala a few seconds after the one-sided affair.

Folayang, who is under Team Lakai and earned the nickname Landslide because of how he dominates his opponents, said he will immediately hit the gym to train for his next big fight back in Manila.

He will be fighting in the Colt 45 URCC 14 “Agression” most likely against another opponent from Saipan.

Aguilar said they will invite and negotiate for a welterweight (155 lbs) fighter from the CNMI to go up against him.

Assessing his sterling performance, Folayang said he saw that he could win the fight and immediately went for it.
